Powder-coated cable trays are more durable than ordinary steel cable trays in humid or corrosive environments. This is due to the coating (usually epoxy resin, polyester powder, etc.) applied through an electrostatic spraying and high-temperature curing process. This coating forms a continuous, uniform, and pinhole-free film (typically 60-120μm thick). This physically blocks moisture, oxygen, and corrosive ions from coming into direct contact with the steel substrate, preventing electrochemical corrosion. Furthermore, thanks to its excellent chemical stability, it resists water, weak acids, and bases, and exhibits excellent resistance to industrial corrosive gases and salt spray, fundamentally addressing the rust and corrosion issues that plague ordinary steel cable trays.
Compared to ordinary steel cable trays (without plastic spraying or simply painted), plastic spraying cable trays offer significant advantages: In humid environments, the former may experience localized rust in 3-6 months, with further corrosion in 1-2 years, while the latter can withstand 5-10 years of normal use without noticeable corrosion. In corrosive environments, the former experience coating peeling and base material corrosion in 1-3 months, requiring frequent maintenance, while the latter offers stable performance without the need for repainting or rust removal, resulting in lower maintenance costs. For this reason, plastic spraying cable trays typically have a service life of 15-20 years, far exceeding the 3-5 years of ordinary steel cable trays, making them more suitable for industrial workshops, underground garages, coastal buildings, and other scenarios.
