Advantages of Pre-Galvanized Cable Trunkings
What scenarios are pre-galvanized cable trunkings suitable for?
Pre-galvanized cable trough (usually refers to the electrogalvanizing process) is low-cost and easy to process, but has limited corrosion resistance. It is suitable for scenes with low environmental requirements, light loads, and short service cycles.
In dry indoor environments, it can be used for indoor scenes in ordinary buildings, such as cable laying in dry spaces such as offices, residences, and shopping malls, mainly transmitting weak current cables or low-power power cables; it is also suitable for low-risk industrial plants, such as light industrial assembly workshops without acid and alkali corrosion, to meet short-term cable laying needs.
Short-term temporary projects are also useful, such as temporary distribution boxes and lighting line cable laying in temporary facilities on construction sites, as well as cable layout at exhibitions and events. Such scenes have short engineering cycles and require rapid installation and disassembly. The low cost and convenience of pre-galvanized cable troughs are just right.
For light-load and low-maintenance demand scenes, such as non-load-bearing cable laying (only as cable protective shells) and low-cost old building line renovation projects, pre-galvanized cable troughs can meet the needs at a lower cost.
It should be noted that pre-galvanized cable troughs are not suitable for humid, outdoor, corrosive or high-load scenarios, so as to avoid rapid rusting of the zinc layer and potential safety hazards. When choosing, pre-galvanizing can be given priority in dry, light-load, short-term and low-cost scenarios. Otherwise, hot-dip galvanizing or other material cable troughs should be selected.
Installation and maintenance of pre-galvanized cable trunkings
Due to the material characteristics of pre-galvanized cable troughs, attention should be paid to convenience, sealing and basic protection during installation. Before installation, it is necessary to confirm environmental adaptability, check the specifications of the cable trough and the surface condition of the zinc layer, and prepare installation tools; during the installation process, according to the positioning and fixing bracket, ensure that the joints are flat when splicing the cable trough, the cables are laid straight and space is reserved, and at the same time, the sealing and grounding treatment are done well to ensure that the grounding resistance meets the standard and avoid improper installation affecting the safety of the cable.


Its maintenance work is particularly critical because the zinc layer is thin and the corrosion resistance is weak. The corresponding inspection cycle needs to be set in different environments, such as every 6-12 months in a conventional dry room, and shortened to every 3-6 months in a high dust or humid environment. The maintenance content covers rust treatment, cleaning and tightening, cable sealing inspection and grounding system testing, etc., to promptly discover and deal with problems such as zinc layer rust, loose bolts, and sealing failure.
It is worth noting that welding and cutting on the cable trough is strictly prohibited during maintenance, and corrosive cleaning agents should be avoided. If the cable trough is frequently corroded or the environmental conditions deteriorate, it is necessary to consider replacing it with hot-dip galvanized or aluminum alloy cable trough. Pre-galvanized cable troughs should be installed in appropriate scenarios, maintained in a timely manner, and the material should be upgraded when necessary to ensure safe use and reduce potential risks.
